The Nation Promise

At Mt. Sinai, the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob officially became a nation.

God fulfilled the nation promise about 650 years after announcing it to Abraham. When Moses led the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage, they had an army of over 600,000 men. The total population was perhaps 2 to 3 million. At Mt. Sinai three months later, God made a national covenant with them: 'Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 'And you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.'... Then all the people answered together, and said, "All that the LORD hath spoken we will do." (Ex. 19:5-6a, 8).
